S de Siran, likewise from the Margaux appellation, is the second wine of Chateau Siran. From the fruit of its young vines, ranging from 5 to 15 years, of the grand vin vineyards, S de Siran is composed of a special selection according to vintage dictates. Depending on the year, the production volume of S de Siran approximates 30% to 40% that of the grand vin.
The customary blend is of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. The wine, vinified and aged with the same care as the grand vin, is understandably regarded as the latter’s younger brother, displaying roundness, complexity and charm that are best appreciated within 5 to 7 years of age.
Ideal wine for restaurants and home dining, these wines are versatile matches not only with red and white meat, but with pastas, savoury pies and assorted quiches as well.
